Research Interests:
During my graduate studies and specialization in the Medical Genetics Department, I completed my research on cancer, which includes genetics and analysis of gene expression in cancerous testis in breast cancer, prostate cancer, thyroid cancer, as well as PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis) in chromosomal disorders and single-gene disorders such as thalassemia and hearing loss.
Currently, as the Director of the Stem Cell Technology Research Center, I am engaged in identifying and differentiating embryonic mesodermal stem cells and their role in drug regeneration.
Recently, I have started my research on gene editing using CRISPR Cas9 technology in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and cancers.
I am currently working as an Associate Professor of Medical Genetics in the Medical Genetics Department. I am also the head of the Cytogenetics Laboratory at the Comprehensive Medical Genetics Center in Shiraz. This center is the largest genetics center in southern Iran and conducts various genetic tests such as karyotyping on peripheral blood, amniotic fluid, and CVS, FISH testing, QF PCR, PCR sequencing, analysis and interpretation of NGS and NIPT data, PGD, PND, and maternal serum screening.
This center annually handles over 4,000 amniotic fluid samples.
Additionally, I provide genetic counseling for infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, pregnancy disorders, intellectual disabilities, and hearing loss.
