In this article, we share with you the experiences of some of our patients in determining the sex of the fetus with IVF. Their names have been removed from the medical records to protect their privacy.
Patient 1:
I am a 33-year-old woman with a beautiful daughter, but my husband and I wanted to add a son. Since gender selection is illegal in our country, we decided to travel to Iran.
I contacted Safe MedTour, which organized all the details of our trip, from booking a doctor’s appointment to booking a hotel to providing a medical interpreter. Everything was done quickly and efficiently.
Upon arrival in Iran, we were greeted with a bouquet at the airport and taken to the hotel to rest. The next morning, we went to see Dr. Keramati at Samar Clinic.
During tests, we discovered that my husband has a thyroid problem and needs treatment, which may affect his sperm quality and fertility.
My husband’s treatment went well and I also retrieved my eggs, and they were able to create 18 embryos. After PGD testing to determine the sex of the embryos and screening for genetic problems, eight healthy male embryos remained. We froze the embryos to prepare the uterus for pregnancy.
A few months later, we returned to Iran to complete the embryo transfer process. At my wife and I’s request to have twins, two A-quality blastocysts were transferred.
First Pregnancy Test
I took a blood pregnancy test 16 days after the embryo transfer, and it was positive. I sent the results to the company to see if they could determine if I was pregnant with twins.

Second Pregnancy Test
The beta HCG test result on day 21 showed an increase in the hormone level, confirming that the pregnancy was progressing normally by week.

Ultrasound
I had an ultrasound on day 35 and it turned out that I was pregnant with one fetus, unfortunately it wasn’t twins. The doctor also told us that transferring two embryos doesn’t necessarily mean a twin pregnancy, the chance of a twin pregnancy in this case is between 35 and 55 percent.
Patient 2:
I am a 39-year-old woman with two daughters, but I wanted a son to complete our family’s happiness. After reviewing the available options, we decided to travel to Iran to have this procedure done.
I found Safe Medtour by searching the internet. I contacted them. They explained all the details of the treatment and the trip to me. Sama answered me sincerely and I felt relieved.
When we arrived in Iran, they were waiting for us at the airport and welcomed us warmly. Then we went to the hotel. Everything was fine.
The next day, they took us to Samar Clinic to meet with Dr. Keramati. We had various tests, including blood tests, vaginal ultrasound, and semen analysis. I started using ovarian stimulants on the third day of my menstrual cycle. The eggs were retrieved on day 14.
At our request, four embryos were initially frozen without sex determination, and of the remaining 16 embryos, five 5-day-old boys were frozen to screen for genetic problems so that my body could recover before the embryo transfer.
A few months later, we returned to Iran to complete the procedure and a male embryo was transferred.
Pregnancy Test
As recommended by the doctor, I took a pregnancy test on the 16th day after the transfer and it was positive.

Ultrasound
The first ultrasound was performed on day 35 to confirm fetal heart formation.

After ensuring the health of the fetal heart, medication changes were sent to us. It was recommended that I continue the medications until the twelfth week and until the first-trimester NIPT was performed. They asked me to be monitored by an obstetrician and gynecologist in my country.
